The Department of Commerce was established in the year 1966. Since the establishment of the department till December 2022, the faculties have used their appropriate subject knowledge and skills to impart education to the students. Since the establishment of commerce department till now the number of students taking admission in commerce department has been increasing. The department has grown from strength to strength and the department have 2 full time faculties and more than 900 students (both grantable and non-grantable section). This is the biggest department in the college and more than 45 % of the total student’s strength of the college consists of commerce students. Our college have placed in semi urban area so 90 % students have attaining from rural areas.

Department provide good quality education to students from rural area and also started commerce department with B. Com. in Marathi and English medium and post-graduation education. Considering the needs of the students as per the changing scenario, a new course B.Com IT has been started in the department of commerce from the year of 2020. Department of Commerce thus emphasis on overall development of student for that we provide various daily activities and some weekly activities and number of interclass competitions with their regular curriculum.

Faculty‘s major focus is on quality learning through classroom teaching & practical learning both. The department focus is on group discussions, interactive study sessions, role plays, presentation, case study and strategy implementation sessions are held as a part of student’s centric method. Experiential learning method uses to enhance skills and entrepreneurship development among students, for this purpose we organise industrial visit, study tour, and field visit for B.Com Part I and II students every year.

Each academic session, the department plans various extension activities and events, including Visit to banks, post office, insurance offices and other firms. Every year bridge courses are conducted for first year students to bridge the gap between the commerce and non-commerce students. The objective is to lay foundation on the subjects and bring new ideas and thoughts in understanding the subjects easily.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell

Skills and Entrepreneurship Development Cell was established with an aim to make the students a job creator rather than a job seeker. The cell conducts programmes to equip the students with entrepreneurship skills to start and run their own business initiatives.

Commerce Club

Students are encouraged to become members of Commerce Club which is established with an objective to expose the students to meet the practical challenges in the current business scenario and also to develop leadership qualities and event management skills among the students. The club is active in organizing various events such as Business Quiz, group discussions, presentations, industrial visit etc.
