The college is located
in rural and hilly area of Kolhapur District.
The college meet the needs of students
belonging to main stream of the society.
It has tried to enrich the aspiration of
the students belonging to educationally
backward region of Kolhapur.
The
main goals of our institution are to transmit education
at grass root level and to build up all round personality
of a student. These goals are reflected in all our
activities and curricula, such as adoption of students,
eradication
of social evils, competitive examinations, elocution
competitions, N.C.C. and N.S.S. As an affiliated college,
Shivraj college has to adopt the syllabi prescribed
by Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The
college offers three year integrated courses in three
faculties of Arts, Commerce, Science and P.G. courses
in English, Marathi and Hindi. Recently the institute
has started B.Sc. (Computer Science), B.C.S. and B.B.A.
courses.
The
college offers 44 subjects and 178 papers
in respective disciplines. The medium of
instruction is Marathi for the faculties
of Arts and Commerce and English for the
faculty of Science. The University specifies
the terms and conditions regarding academic
matters. The elective options are available
in all faculties.
An academic
calendar is planned and worked out. The
head of the departments and Principal monitor
it. We have provision for assessing student’s
knowledge after admission we have well
experienced competent teaching staff. The
institute has set its own mechanism to
assess the performance of teachers, the
departments and the campus. The results
of the college at various University examination
are promising. Some students are rank holders
in the merit list of Shivaji University,
Kolhapur.
The
college imparts qualitative service in
the academic field and it is committed
to social and community development. The
college is doing well in co-curricular
activities with the active functioning
of various committees. We give equal importance
to sports and other extra curricular activities.
We mould
our students to stand in society as `Shivrajians’ by
developing specific skills in them. Our
cultural activities imbibe in our students
a sense of team work and social awareness.
We see that our student should be well-versed
in general knowledge, letter writing, values
and ethics in society. The college strives
hard to fulfill the academic requirement
and to develop a sense of quality and excellence
in education.
