Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 1984. As per considering the importance of the subject and job opportunities our management started chemistry as principal subject in our institute. The Department of Chemistry consist of well qualified teaching staff, including four (04) Associate professor and twelve (12) Assistant professor. Out of this four (04) faculty members are doctorate holders, four (04) faculty members are pursuing their Ph.D. degree and other two (02) faculty members are SET, NET qualified.

The Department of Chemistry offering Undergraduate (B. Sc.), Postgraduate (M. Sc. Organic Chemistry) and Ph.D. program. The admission process for M.Sc. and Ph.D. program are followed as per rules of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. About 800 Undergraduate students, 44 Postgraduate students and 06 Ph.D. students are enrolling in the department.

The faculties are actively engaged in research activities. Some of the areas of interest are nanomaterial and chemosensors. The Department of Chemistry has visiting faculties of Industrial/ institute experience. Their expertise helps the students for exposure of their knowledge in research and industry.

Objectives

  •  To teach students to be aware of the safety of oneself and others in the laboratory and be committed to safe practices in daily life.
  •  To inspire the students for research activities.
